I’m paranoid about a single hash function being broken. Quantum threats are real. DigiByte’s multi‑algorithm approach means that if SHA‑256 is compromised, Scrypt, Skein, Qubit, and Odocrypt still secure the network. That’s defence in depth. It’s the same philosophy as having multiple validators in a decentralised system. I’ve been a node operator for DigiByte since 2020, and I’ve never seen a significant outage. That’s not luck; it’s thoughtful engineering. If you want to understand why multi‑algo matters, this paper does a great job explaining the math.
